Marko Primorac

Vice President, European Investment Bank

Marko Primorac is Vice-President of the European Investment Bank (EIB), a position he assumed in March 2026. He brings extensive experience at the intersection of public finance, economic policy, and international financial institutions.

Prior to joining the EIB, Primorac served as Deputy Prime Minister of Croatia (2024–2026) and Minister of Finance (2022–2026), where he played a central role in shaping fiscal policy, maintaining macroeconomic stability, and advancing capital market development. During his tenure, he led key initiatives in public debt management, including the successful issuance of government securities to retail investors, and contributed to sustained economic growth and responsible fiscal governance.

Primorac’s career combines high-level policymaking with strong academic and international expertise. He is an associate professor at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Zagreb, specialising in public finance, financial institutions, and international economics. He has also worked as a consultant for the World Bank and contributed to international policy discussions through advisory and research roles.

Earlier in his career, he served as economic advisor to the President of Croatia (2018–2020), supporting the development of national economic strategies. His academic work includes numerous publications in the field of finance and economic policy, reflecting a continued commitment to evidence-based policymaking.

Born in Zagreb in 1984, Primorac holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Zagreb. His professional trajectory reflects a blend of academic rigor, government leadership, and international engagement, positioning him to contribute to the EIB’s mission of supporting sustainable investment, innovation, and economic cohesion across Europe.
