Blaž Brodnjak is the President of the Management Board of NLB d.d., the parent bank of the NLB Group, a leading banking and financial group headquartered in and strategically focused exclusively on Southeast Europe.

A corporate banker with 25 years of diverse leadership experience at all levels within international banking groups, he naturally grew into the business from a commercial sales role, while developing his leadership skills through managing a business unit, a division, and the entire commercial function as a Management Board member in the Slovenian subsidiaries of international banking groups (BACA, Raiffeisen, and BAWAG P.S.K.). He also served as the Management Board’s authorized representative for investments at Triglav Insurance, the largest insurance group headquartered in Southeast Europe, and later took on the role of Head of Corporate and Public Sector Banking within the Hypo Alpe Adria banking group, with a focus on Southeast Europe. He joined NLB d.d. in 2012 as a member of the Management Board, and in July 2016 he assumed the position of President of the Management Board, while also taking responsibility for retail and corporate banking operations (the latter until May 2022).

In addition to his professional banking expertise, he has extensive corporate governance experience, having held executive or supervisory positions in seventeen banks, as well as in three insurance companies and the leading local asset management company, across a total of eight countries (without exception, all in the territory of the former Yugoslavia and Austria). He was also active as a member of the Supervisory Board and Chair of the Audit Committee of the local multinational manufacturing and services group Unior. In 2022, the Managers’ Association awarded him the title of Manager of the Year.

Outside the business world, Blaž enjoys spending time with his family, farming in the family vineyard, and is a passionate advocate of sustainable practices in both business and private life.
